My Process

Read on to find out how I take unwanted wood, and turn it into unique products...

Sourcing

I source my timber from multiple places - pallets, or unwanted or surplus timber from building projects, old sheds, or found on social media.

Cutting To Size

I use a circular saw, and sometimes a table saw, to cut the wood to the required size for the project.

Sanding Down

This is the most time consuming - and yet satisfying - part of the process. I gradually sand the wood down to 120-grit (for garden items if painted), or 320-grit (for pyrographic items like gifts).

Assembly

The fun part! Pilot holes are drilled to avoid cracked boards, and then the product is assembled. I use screws rather than nails whenever possible, for a stronger grip.

Pyrography

Pyrography (writing through burning) is a skill I'm still learning - but it looks great when done properly! A very hot 'pen' like a soldering iron, is applied to the wood. Writing and shapes can be drawn in a very rustic effect.
